Berlin is open 24 hours a day, and so are we. The most exciting city in Europe is of special importance to the Arcandor corporation, the holding company of Karstadt, Quelle, and Thomas Cook. In Berlin, we have our most important department store KaDeWe. Here, we have our most modern call centres and invest into the mail order systems of the future. For our tourism experts, the city is an important destination. We are available to our customers 24 hours a day, for the people who live in the wonderful city. Berlin's heartbeat is the rhythm to which we live and work – this is why we support 24h Berlin as sponsors.
What makes Berlin unique, what is a typical Berliner like? The 24h Berlin project isn’t looking for easy answers, but shows the diversity and dynamic energy of the people of Berlin in their individual “Kiez”, or neighbourhood. To Berliner Bank recognizing this individuality is extremely important. And as a regional bank, we have very close ties to Berlin. Our advisors know their community well and can respond to the needs of the clients who live there. This also applies to our cooperation with Berlin’s businesses: we have long been aware of the city’s vast economic potential and are on hand to assist the growing sector of creative businesses, which we want to encourage through our support for 24h Berlin.
Berlin is a vibrant city in constant change. We supply Berlin’s whole public transportation system with trains and thus make sure that Berlin always keeps on moving. With our trains for tramway, metro, local, and regional transport and with our global Bombardier Transportation headquarters, we are part of this dynamic and green city with its excellent transportation network. Bombardier supports 24h Berlin because we are fascinated by life in this liveable city and because this unique project puts the city and its diversity into the focus of international attention. We take part in 24h Berlin because we are proud to make this city move!
Sony is a leading innovator in entertainment technology and professional film and TV production. We are located at the Sony Centre at Potsdamer Platz, in the heart of Berlin. Reason enough to get involved in this ambitious, forward-looking portrayal of Berlin and to extensively support 24h Berlin with the newest digital recording equipment: 80 professional Sony XDCAM HD-cameras will be recording some 900 hours of life in Berlin on the most modern, disc- and hard drive-based media systems. “For such an ambitious project, High Definition is obligatory, tapeless recording is an additional convenience. With this combination of the future, we bring production to the next level,” says Goran Hantschel, Sony Professional Solutions Europe (D).
United by a common commitment to the city and a common desire to offer efficient and valuable services to our citizens, "Value Added Berlin" is the latest initiative of twelve public companies in Berlin. With the long-term mission to engage ourselves above and beyond our daily tasks, we seek to apply our expertise to various economic, ecological, and social fields. This combination of our traditional services, offered to each and every district of the city, as well as our support of social projects, will continue to ensure that Berlin remains the vibrant, liveable, and lovable city as featured in "24h Berlin". And that is what we mean by "Value Added Berlin!"

We support 24h Berlin because it offers an authentic view of the German capital, of the people who live here, and of course also of the local economy. As the central subsidy bank of the Federal Land of Berlin, the IBB is an inherent part of Berlin. Our motto “Working for Berlin“ expresses our vision, part of which is to support modern, creative ideas that bring our city forward. 24h Berlin is such a project, and it will bring increased attention to the creative industries in Berlin. This is important to us because the creative industries are one of the core sectors of our economic support and subsidy policy.
